Rotastak Fairground Fun - 3 Top Things Mums Should Consider Before Buying
Are your children begging you to buy them a pet hamster? I have begged and cried in front of my mum for the same reason about 10 years ago. She gave in to my soft spoken words and teary eyes and bought me a Syrian hamster housed in a Rotastak Fairground Fun. Mum and I spent hours together watching our Syrian, Teddy, running through his tubes and those joyful childhood days still have a huge place in my heart.
A week ago, mum and I were discussing about hamsters. She told me the reason she agreed to buy Teddy was because I promised her these 3 things she considered before buying. These were 3 things she considered before she bought Teddy:
Consideration #1: Will he help to set up the cage?
"I did not want to do the set up the hamster cage all by myself. If I was going to set up the cage myself, it would defeat the purpose of buying Teddy - which was to let him experience the responsibilities of having a pet."
"I was also against the idea of getting a bin cage. This was because I was not confident building one and did not want the hassle of buying the tools."
Consideration #2: Will he have the patience and commitment to clean the hamster cage?
"Cleaning hamster cages aren't easy. Cleaning the cage every 2 weeks requires commitment and patience. Again, I did not want to shoulder all the responsibilities. I wanted him to know that cleaning the cage was part of the process of having a pet hamster."
Consideration #3: Will he spend time researching about the cage before buying?
"I knew that Syrians live alone and require a lot of space. However, I wanted him to find out these details before I bought him a hamster. These were important details that he has to know before having a pet."
"This was the toughest step. Researching was not an process because there were lots of reviews and details we had to pay attention to before deciding if he was ready to take care of a hamster."
